Apex Tennis Academy was fortunate to get the opportunity to ask the President of the Nigerian Tennis Federation, Engineer Dayo Akindoju some pertinent questions regarding what Nigerian tennis enthusiasts should look forward to post Covid-19.

Here are the salient details:

  • The (NTF) Nigerian Tennis Federation plans to continue “from where we stopped” in terms of tennis activities once the government gives the green light that tennis is safe to recommence.
  • Also, there are plans to “majorly increase junior tournaments, especially (ITF) International Tennis Federation.
  • Increase Senior tournaments too.
  • Encourage states and zones to increase development and of course run more coaching and officiating courses.
  • The NTF is “also taking new players to Morocco for trials and assessment for possible training programs”.
  • Engineer Akindoju also stated that, ” Our first FED cup participation was to be in June (2020). We are following (up) to know if it will still happen this year.
  • “A lot”, he said, “depends on when facilities get opened and the skies too. We see”.
